50th Anniversary Gift!
Little did I know when my eyes were first introduced to her captivating smile that 50 years later I’d be writing a song about our journey together. Gotta tell ya… SHE wrote the song… I just moved the pen across the page as I remembered those years. God has been so gracious to both of us as we have traveled together from our first rent check (are you ready) of $95. We would have never thought then that our dinner 50 years later would cost more than our rent payment! We can gladly say that the journey is far more beautiful when viewed through the lens of Scripture—the perspective of our own fallenness, God's amazing grace, and the presence of His Spirit. Hello! That’s all you need. Don’t complicate it. Then… before we knew it we woke up one morning on the top floor of the honeymoon suite along the Pacific coast, stretched and groaned and groaned and groaned some more… worked our way to the patio for a morning cup of coffee together… She gave me the most beautiful photo book I've ever seen, revealing our 50 years of figuring out life, as well as each other, together. It so started the day with joy! As we looked down on the Pacific coastline waves drifting in as if to wave good morning, I gave her a present to open and some earbuds to listen to the song I had written. I wrote the words and for many weeks I would go outside and sing the song into my iPhone in order to get the lyrics and melody exactly the way I wanted them. She was in the house so I always had to hide somehow to create the sound I wanted to accompany those words. And yes, I was smart enough to have it produced professionally by someone else because my wife deserves better than this old crackling voice. It was such a joy to watch her open the canvas print of the words, look right down over her shoulder to the waves taking turns coming in to greet us down below and to see my wonderful wife join me in celebrating 50!
Feel free to listen to the song (download it if you wish) as you read Shoreline of My Soul. And maybe you know of someone about to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I’ve created five different types of prints to choose from if you want to purchase one and send to a friend, along with the song. Any of the prints can be ordered in any of the styles shown below—canvas, acrylic, metal, fine art paper, and more—in a variety of sizes. You should be able to navigate to the various prints and options by using the button beneath the examples below. Celebrate that memory! I know we sure did.
