I Did Because I Didn't

You are as close to God as you want to be. Just as you are as involved in social media as you want to be. Just as you are as invested in your family as you want to be. I would encourage you to give some thought to using more of today's technology to place more of God's Word in front of you through multiple avenues. More Bible apps. More social media channels that bring spiritual insight. More Bible-based podcasts. Websites that turn your head toward Christ. Even music that honors God. Methods are many, principles are few. Methods change from time to time but principles never do. Don't get hung up on the methods, but lean on the principle of being inundated with biblical influence. We do what we want to in life. It wasn't that long ago that I managed 14 fantasy football leagues. Why? Well, I was a retired empty nester with a whole lot more time on my hands. 14 teams! Loved it! I had been involved in fantasy football for years and just kinda went all out. It was a blast. Then in my spirit I started asking myself about the whole idea of whether I was letting FF master me. I was still very involved in my church, small group, etc. But... 14 teams? My wife knew how much I enjoyed it. But just the nagging question... Karl, is this thing beginning to master you? My wife never mentioned it at all. It was just me. But I had the whole off season to run that through my mind and I just decided to go a year without playing after years of doing so. As the end of that season my wife said I needed to get back in the game because she saw how much I missed it. So I've always stayed at 8 teams or less now.

But do I still memorize Scripture? Yup yup. Lead a small group? Attend and serve in my church? Sure. And trust me if I sense something's gotta go, i.e. FF, I need to let it go if I'm going to continue "abounding in the work of the Lord."
