Alone Together

Is there? Honestly, is there? I don't think it even comes close. What greater honor? What greater bond? What greater responsibility? What greater demand on a person? Is there anything more engaging, more mentally taxing, more emotionally demanding, more time-consuming, more God-honoring than to be... a mother?
I really don't think anything else comes close. And though it's clear that the demands are tremendous, I want to emphasize the honor, please. You are graced by God to be the most influental person in the world on that little child during those formative years. You get to experience so many 'firsts' that are yours and yours alone 'together' with your little one. Oh, what a wonderful journey to take together.
May I congratulate you, Mom, whoever you are, as you read these words. May I tell you how proud of you I am that you hold such an honored position and may I encourage you to do so with your heart set on the great Creator and Sustainor God? I wish for you more sleep. (Let's get that one out of the way right off the top!) I wish for you an understanding husband by your side and hopefully a good mentor or two that you can spill it with from time to time. I wish for you perspective. Such a great word... perspective. Gain a Biblical perspective on life. Seek a godly perspective of time, on money, on love, on influence. Thirst for closeness to the heart of God as your little one is so close to your own heart right now. I'm so happy for you, mom. Oh, what an impact you will have well past your lifetime. Please know that.
This week's 84 Effect can't go without words coming from your lips encouraging at least three different moms this week. You know you have it in you. And I know they need it!
